Let the Book Blogger Love-A-Thon 2015 begin!

BANNER - 2015 LOVEATHON

IT’S HERE! The Book Blogger Love-A-Thon has officially arrived and I couldn’t be more excited. It’s going to be an amazing weekend! We’re kicking off with a little questionnaire followed by a number of fun things over the next two days.

1. What’s your name?

My name is Natalia but a lot of people call me Nattie so you can too!

2. Where in the world are you blogging from?

I am blogging from the UK which means I’m five hours ahead of the EST timezone.

tumblr_inline_n94odpFBeu1sybzrb3. How did you get into blogging in the first place?

I’ve always been a reader. When I moved up to secondary school I finally had a library that was easily accessible to me and so, naturally, I became besties with the librarian. About a year ago I found out about booktube and I thought YES THIS IS IT FINALLY THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT THINK THE SAME AS I DO! It was only about half a year ago that I thought, “I could do that too.” I’ve been thinking of making a blog for months before I actually did and *puts on my cliché voice* I wished I did it earlier.

IKlVI8J4. How did you come up with your blog name?

I went through a lot of blog names before I ended up with Book Rambles, a number of which were really embarrassing. Book Rambles wasn’t really inspired by anything nor does it have a cool/funny story attached. Kind of boring, really.

ce014-ilovethisbook5. What genre do you read and review the most on your blog?

90% of the books I read are Young Adult although that has been changing recently as I’ve been getting into classics and more of the popular middle grade series (I’ve only just read all of the Percy Jackons and Harry Potters last year). In YA, I’d say I read fantasy the most.Every third book is some form of fantasy for me. It’s my absolute favorite :3

so-many-books-gif6. What other types of posts do you do on your blog, apart from reviews?

Ever since I started blogging I loooooved the Top Ten Tuesdays meme because, well, I’m a list loved. I also do reviews of book to movie adaptations, new and slightly older too. I love doing my monthly wrap up and the Stacking The Shelves meme. When the exams are over, I’m hoping to do some more fun stuff like book tags and discussion posts.

7. Best blogging experience so far?

I’m still kind of new to the community but something that I really enjoyed was meeting so many new people (there I go again with the cliché) and interacting with all my new bookish friends on Instagram, Twitter and in the comments too.

older!amanda 298. Favorite thing about the blogging community?

The love. Definitely the love. I’ve seen a lot of it on Instagram and Tumblr and Twitter and the way everyone is so compassionate and lovely to each other makes me want to hug every single bookish person out there.

excited-baby9. Name the 5 books you’re most excited for this 2015!

Ahh, how do I pick only five? Sighs. Just of the top of my head it would be: Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare, A Court of Thorns and Roses and Queen of Shadows both by Sarah J. Maas (two books in one year? She’s crazy but I’m loving it!), A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab (which is coming out the day before my birthday) and The Sword of Summer by Rich Riordon.

10. What’s an underrated book or series that you think everyone should read?

I could probably think of a lot but the one that straight away comes to mind is The Weight of Water by Sarah Crossan. It’s one of my favourites if not my favourite book of all time. Jacqueline Wilson‘s books don’t really get much attention either outside of the UK and those are the books I basically grew up on, as did nearly every primary school girl that liked to read.

tumblr_mz13w4nNoW1r7w8cbo1_50011. Which book boy or girl would be your book BFF?

Ahh, HOW DO I PICK JUST ONE? For some reason I straight away think of Celeana Sardothien from Throne of Glass. She is one of my favourite characters of all time. She adores books and, although she can kick ass, she also likes to dress up and wear heels which I love. The down side of that would be that if I was in the actual story, Sarah J. Maas would probably kill me off because the typical ‘if the main character cares for you you’ll probably die in a painful way’ thing authors love to use. Also, I would choose Hermione Granger because who wouldn’t want to be her friend? I mean, come on. She could probably sneak me into Hogwarts if I asked nicely.

12. Apart from reading, what are your other hobbies or interests?

I used to do a lot of dancing, especially ballet and pointe. I’ve been doing shows and stuff like that for six years before I stopped as of the New Year. Sometimes I miss it but it felt more of chore because I’ve been doing it for such a long time so I was glad to finally let it go. My other hobbies include being a professional fangirl.

13. Apart from book shopping, what else do you like shopping for?

Book shopping makes me the happiest out of all the shopping that I do. Recently I’ve been doing a lot of shopping(/looking) for prom dresses with my friends which makes me super happy. I love buying presents for other people too, especially if I find the perfect gift (which most likely is a book but shhh).

tumblr_me0kevBlEW1rshr5to2_25014.At a party, the DJ suddenly changes the song – and it’s your song. What song would be playing?

Well, first of all, the DJ must have a very good taste if it’s my song. My all time favourite song is Ed Sheeran’s Give Me Love and, if I’m being honest, any song of Ed Sheeran’s is MY song. I feel the same way about Ellie Goulding.

15. Pick out either a book you want turned into a film/TV show, or a film/TV show you want turned into a book.

I’m not the biggest fan of books that were TV shows/films first. I think Throne of Glass, if done well, would be a great film series. Ooh, and We Were Liars which I know was optioned for the big screen so that’s really exciting.

So that’s me in a nutshell! I’ve been excited for this weekend for weeks now and I can’t wait to meet some more people in this fabulous community.

  1. Ed Sheeran!! I love him. And I’m super excited, because I get to see him in concert again this year in May! Ahem. Give Me Love is a great song, though I’m currently partial to Photograph off of the new album. And Sarah J. Maas is an amazing author, isn’t she? I’m obsessed with all of her books, and so excited for Queen of Shadows! (I got to read ACOTAR already and it’s FANTASTIC.)

    Thanks for joining the Love-a-Thon!

    • No way! My jealousy level are off the scale right now ahhhh! *clears throat* Photograph is indeed a fabulous song however for me it was not love at first sight as it was with Give Me Love. Have you read his autobiography/visual journey thing? It’s so pretty!

Yes she is! I was so gutted that I missed her last year when she was doing an Heir of Fire UK tour thing and I wasn’t aware at all. So frustrating. Ahhh I saw ACOTAR on Netgalley but I don’t want to request it because I want my friend to read it with me when it’s out but the temptation is killing me slowly. I’m glad you liked it though! C:

  2. Oh hiiii. 😀 😀 You’re also blogging from the UK! 😀 YAY FOR JACQUELINE WILSON. I grew up in Hong Kong but I also read her books there.

Another person picking Hermione as their bff, haha. I’ve seen so many now! SHE IS SO AWESOME THOUGH ISN’T SHE.

I really must read Throne of Glass!

    • Jacqueline Wilson was literally my life when I was in primary school. I haven’t seen any bloggers even mention her but I’m glad I know of her! Do you have a favourite of hers?

YES SHE IS 😀 She’s in such a high demand haha C:

You must read Throne of Glass! If you like high fantasy, which is what it eventually builds up to from just normal fantasy, then I think you’ll like it. Plus: Celeana is probably one of my favourite female characters in YA.

    • Ahh you’ve made me think about it and now I realised I’ve picked my best friends totally based on what life I would like to have. *facepalm*

Yes, I want to be a witch and get my Hogwarts letter and play Quidditch and do Charms homework… But, no no, I want to kick ass with weapons and go to these royal parties and get a sallary big enough to do huge bookhauls every month and I want a prince like Dorian and a royal library at my disposal. Is that too much to ask? C:

  3. It’s so cool that you danced Ballet. I know a lot of people that danced as a little kid, because their mom enrolled them, but stopped pretty soon, so it’s always refreshing to stumble upon someone who shares that passion. I’m also pretty excited about A Court of Thorns and Roses and A Darker Shade of Magic. Both sound super awesome. And Hermione? Heck yeah! Who wouldn’t want to be her friend?
